Hotdog Ministry
The Wabash First United Methodist Church Hot Dog Ministry is an outreach ministry with the goal of building relationships with people in the Wabash community, connecting them to God and one another while sharing meals and showing them the love of Jesus Christ.
We began in September 2019 by grilling hot dogs on a street corner in our church neighborhood and inviting people to join us. In October, we moved to the Ivy Tech parking lot to serve hot dogs. As the weather turned colder, we gathered and served dinner inside the Ivy Tech building from November through March.
Due to COVID, to maintain social distance, we handed out food bags in the parking lot every Tuesday from March through June. In July 2020, we fired up the grills and returned to grilling outside, serving hot dogs and pork burgers once again in the Ivy Tech parking lot. Then in September, we added a second location, the Bowen Center parking lot, on Tuesdays from 5:00 to 6:00. In addition, we served on Thursdays from 5:00 to 6:00 at the corner of Comstock and Carroll streets.
December 2020 through March 2021, the Hot Dog Ministry Team delivered dinner each Tuesday to 22 families (76 people) because we wanted to maintain our relationship with them. The Hot Dog Ministry Team is very excited to get back outside connecting with others as we return to grilling hot dogs and pork burgers on Tuesday, April 13th from 5:00 to 6:00 in the Ivy Tech parking lot and Bowen Center parking lot.
We serve an amazing God who provides abundantly for this outreach ministry. It is truly a privilege to connect with our neighbors, build new relationships and serve as the hands and feet of Jesus.
